Photography

Photography is the process of making pictures by means of action of light. A medium records the light coming off of objects. The pictures are created using mechanical, chemical, or digital devices known as cameras.
Photography comes from a combination of two greek words, that when put together, mean, "Drawing with Light." Slowly the word images has begun to replace photograph, or photo.
Many different types of cameras are available. The main 3 types of cameras are digital, view/technical cameras, and instant cameras.
Digital cameras are cameras that store a photo on a memory stick that you later can download the files onto a computer of some type. Most digital cameras have screens so you can see the photo instantly and if you do not like it, you can delete it right away.
View/Technical Cameras are almost exclusively used by professional photographers. The are usually in the 4x5 or 8x10 inch. format. They are good for use in studios. These cameras take film strips that must be loaded in a dark room to prevent the film from being exposed to light, and being destroyed. They also must have the film removed in a dark room. Chemicals are used to expose the picture
Instant cameras, sometimes called Polaroids, produce a finished print in from 20 seconds to about 4 minutes. After the picture is take, it travels through two steel rollers and exits the camera for the photgrapher to see. These steel rollers rupture a pod that holds the chemicals to expose the picture. When they are ruptered the pods spread the chemicals and the process of exposing the picture begins.
